Power supply unit trouble shooting

In this article you can learn the basic steps to solve Computer Power Supply problems.

 

Fault checking of power supply cable

                Check if he power cable is receiving power correctly. You can use a simple device called as electric tester to test the power supply if the power cable is defective, replace the cable.

 

Second step

                If properly worked power cable and not working power supply unit. Connect the green and black wires of the main power connector together. Then see if the power supply units working properly. If it works, you can see the far is working.

 

Third step

                Check the power switch for faults

                Unplug the terminal that connect to the motherboard. Connect the leads where the power switch connect the motherboard. If the computer turns on, there is a fault in the power switch. In such a case we can replace the reset button wires with power button wire or we can replace another casing.

 

v  Reconnect the main power connector that supplies power to the mother board.

v  Unplug the mother board clean it and plugins it back in. If it not works cleans the ram and VGA card and reconnect it.

v  Unplug the separate VGA card and turn on computer.
